Two packaging companies have recently announced a merger that they claim will create a ‘new giant’ in the industry.
The move will see Gebo, a presence in the automation and conveying industry, and Cermex, a case packing manufacturer, come together to create a new company named Gebo Cermex.
Marc Aury is the man who will preside over the new firm, to be based in Strasbourg. He said: “In creating Gebo Cermex, our goal was to draw on our prestigious past in order to shape the future of our industry.”
“Our industry gets more complex by the day and Gebo Cermex has all the makings of an international market leader,” he added.
Gebo Cermex aims to cover a wide range of sectors from beverages and food, home and personal care and pharmaceutical products.
Aury also claims his business will be the best in the world: “No other company in the market comes close to matching us for depth and scope of expertise.”
The combined company will have 1800 employees spanning 15 commercial and manufacturing sites internationally.
