BIOtech Products, LLC joined Kenrich Petrochemicals Inc. in booth # W13-3083 at the NPE 2009 show in Chicago (June 2009). BIOtech has revolutionised the plastics industry with a new PVC additive called BIOchem that will greatly reduce the stress on our landfills. BIOchem breaks the chain on oil-based polymers for PVC, PVAc, and olefin polymers (EPDM) and under anaerobic conditions these polymers become 100% biodegradable. Plastics in which the BIOchem additive is applied will not experience loss of service life; they will continue to run course of their shelf life without any degradation and rigidness to the plastics until they have been discarded into a controlled landfill. In fact, 80% of the BIOchem formula is derived from sources other than petroleum. BIOchem’s patented formula is non-toxic, and contains no starch, heavy metals, pesticides, bleaching agents, DOP or similar plasticisers, glycol ether or carcinogenic coloring agents. BIOtech Products is currently licensing BIOchem as a finished compound with the additive incorporated into it or it may be or sold as the additive alone. Unlike the recycled plastics industry, BIOchem is not dependant on the world economy and is virtually recession proof. Mr. John Sulano, VP of BIOtech Product & Business Development says, “Overseas demand for recycled materials has come to a sudden halt, and with only 5.3% of today’s plastics being recycled, plastics that used to be recycled will now fill up our landfills”.
