Charlesworth Moulds Success
One of the UK’s oldest (if not the oldest) plastic moulding specialists is enjoying a surge in new orders for the production of technical mouldings. LGG Charlesworth, based in Malvern, Worcestershire, has recently won a number of significant contracts with particular success in the aerospace and electronics industries. The development of new business opportunities is in line with the firm’s strategic diversification into new market sectors and also further development of existing markets. Recent investment in new people has ensured that the company has the best resources to manage its growing order book. The latest appointments include John Thomas as tooling project engineer and Michael Embery as quality engineer. A production supervisor, Stuart Hart, has also been brought in to assist the production manager. In addition, Charlesworth is planning on creating an apprenticeship program during the next two years in order to further develop resources and meet the demands of the anticipated continual growth. The new business will also be supported by a capital investment program that will see additional moulding capacity added along with other ancillary equipment – all aimed at optimising performance and increasing production capacity. In line with positive news on investment in new people and equipment, during tough economic trading conditions, Charlesworth have managed to maintain their staffing levels when other companies are shedding workers. The current developments build upon Charlesworth’s 80+ years of experience in a wide range of market sectors ranging from automotive to medical applications. During that time it has perfected the ability to manage the entire process from the initial consultation and tooling design through to production, ongoing service and development.
