AIMPLAS is set to hold the first independent compounding workshop in Europe this October.

AIMPLAS
The Plastics Technology Centre, which is based in Valencia, Spain, will host the training activity days on October 14th and 15th 2015 at the AIMPLAS facility, allowing attendees to better understand the differing concepts for the successful incorporation of fillers, pigments, additives and reinforcements in plastics with the aim to optimise the properties of the material.
The workshop is addressed to the technical staff of companies that want to strength their expertise in the plastics mixtures field. It will consist of 65 per cent theory classes and 35 per cent practice, where they will work with the twin screw extruder.
Attendees will learn how to identify the key concepts in order to get an optimum mixture in each compound; they will know the most appropriate machinery for each mixing process; and they will learn to design a new mixing process and to control the most important parameters when producing a compound. They will also learn the basic notions for the optimisation of productions.
During the sessions dedicated to the theoretical content, the characteristics of the extruder machine, screw extruder design, control of processes, simulation, solutions of problems and how to design the tests in order to develop a new material or a new formulation will be described. Specific contents for the different kind of mixtures will be explained, as well as the setting of different peripheral equipment and the solutions to possible problems.
The practical content will treat the understanding of the processes of control, processes and optimization of performance with mineral charges and fibres.
The workshop will be hosted by Luis Roca, Begoña Galindo and Miguel Ángel Valera, from the Department of Compounding of AIMPLAS.
Professionals can register to attend until September 11th 2015 and their registrations will be confirmed the on September 12th. The cost for enrolment is €500 and it includes the attendance, the coffee, the meals and the documentation. Enrolment to the workshop and the dinner is €550. For every attendee a company sends, the second will get a 50 per cent discount.
