There could be more recycled polyolefin films entering the packaging arena, as a new sustainable materials project has been given crucial funding.

Clipp+
Leading independent manufacturer of flexible packaging solutions in the EU Skymark, which is based in the UK, is coordinating the CLIPP+ initiative, which aims to introduce cost-competitive, environmentally-friendly recycled polyolefin films to be reused in non-food film packaging.
CLIPP+ is a continuation of the CLIPP (FP7-SME-2010-1-261977) scheme, and will receive funding under the Horizon 2020 EU programme.
The project aims to introduce cost-competitive environmentally friendly recycled polyolefin films to be reused in non-food film packaging through an innovative technology based on a previous EU project CLIPP (www.clipp-project.eu).
The original project demonstrated the effectiveness of sc-CO2 technology to remove the contaminants and unpleasant smells associated with this type of printed recycled plastic materials.
The projected kicked-off in July this year following a meeting at Spanish materials development hub AIMPLAS, which has a broad expertise in the fields of extrusion technology, polymers, biopolymers and renewable source materials, nanocomposites, and biotechnological processes.
