A NEW compounding line has been built at a special assembly facility in China.
German-based firm Coperion has equipped the facility in Shanghai in an attempt to cope with the increasing demand for modular compounding systems in the Far East.
The new assembly facility also claims to help locals, with a large proportion of the components to be sourced locally.
Coperion won the contract to build the modular plant in January 2012 and the plant is now being used for the compounding of thermoplastic elastomers (TPE).
The system, commissioned by Hexpol Group, also boasts a twin-screw extruder and gravimetric feeding systems.
Carrsten Rüter, President of Technology at Hexpol Compounding said: “We were most impressed both by the thoroughness with which Coperion’s experts dealt with our production requirements and by the exactness with which they accommodated our needs.”
“We are using the modular plant for the production of high-quality TPE compounds that satisfy both our own requirements and those of the customer,” he added.
He concluded: “These products are also internationally competitive and therefore enable us to expand our presence in China to a decisive extent.”
Coperion Machinery and Systems (Shanghai)’s Managing Director, Andreas Müssle, said: “In 2011 we decided to build upon our existing expertise in sales and engineering and make an investment in the local assembly of our modular systems.”
“This was a clear commitment to the importance of the Far Eastern market and very quickly proved to be right. We have received more orders and are confident that things will go as smooth and successful as experienced with Hexpol.”
