FEDDEM has made its dedication to modernising its operations known by investing in a new machining centre.

FEDDEM
The new NBH 630 machining centre from Hüller Hille has already assumed a permanent position in the production line at FEDDEM.
The German manufacturer of parallel twin-screw extruders, which is based in Sinzig, Rhineland-Palatinate, has taken possession of a new 4-axis horizontal machining centre from Hüller Hille in Diedesheim, bringing FEDDEM's machining engineering up to state-of-the-art standards, paving the way for further expansion.
The machining centre will be used at FEDDEM to manufacture extruder barrels in a wide range of steel grades, primarily powdermetallugical steels. But other components, such as strand die heads and adapter plates can also be made in-house on this equipment.
The NBH 630 has travel distances of 1000 x 800 x 1000 mm and a pallet-changing system with a separate set-up station and tool changer. It has a capacity of up to 150 tools enabling continuous machining with quick changes to the next component, without lengthy downtimes for machine set-up.
Erwin Bell, Technical Director at FEDDEM, said: "Thanks to our in-house production of process parts such as barrels, screw units, strand die heads, shafts, and much more, we are able to exert greater influence on component and manufacturing technology. The new machining centre will help us to provide an economical, state-of-the-art production process for our customers whilst ensuring continuous availability of replacement parts."
