Manufacturers of pigment preparations Finke has announced it has created a new app for plastics processors to help them find the right colour of PE and PP plastics.
The app, which is free of charge, is for those who use the Pantone colour system for selecting master batches.
The new app follows up on the success of the Finke RALFinder app which has already been downloaded 5,000 times since its launch in 2013.
The PAN-Finder app is available for both Android and iOS smart phones at Google Play and in the App Store.
The app contains all Finke recipe numbers of the continuously growing number of masterbatches that have been developed in accordance with the Pantone references.
The user can ascertain their selected Finke colour number by directly entering the Pantone colour number or a reference photo.
It is also possible to create an individual colour with the aid of a mixing palette in the app before determining its Pantone number.
After the user has found the Pantone colour, the search function will take them to an overview where the Pantone number, Finke colour number and properties of the master batch will be shown on the display.
Search results can then be saved on a virtual notepad, making it easier to define, communicate and discuss colours.
Finke colours found in the app will be available at Finke as recipes, all of which conform to the recommendations of the German Federal Ministry for Risk Assessment.
All recipes are suitable for both injection moulding and the extrusion of PE and PP.
