The World Cup may be over for another four years, but football is still making the headlines, with Juventus bringing some press-stopping news to the fore.

Juventus
No, I don’t mean the club signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus and partner adidas have worked together to create a 100 per cent recycled plastic third kit for the team.
Ocean Plastic by Parley technology, which recycles plastics reclaimed from the oceans such as fishing nets and other debris, has been incorporated into the jersey, which is grey in colour with the Juventus logo standing out in yellow.
Designer at adidas Francesca Venturini said: “The new Juve third kit has eco-innovation and longevity at its very heart. Through our partnership with Parley for the Oceans we’ve been able to create this beautiful jersey made from Ocean Plastic. The dark grey shade with yellow accents makes it the perfect jersey to be worn either on pitch or on the streets.”
The global sportswear giant is championing utilising recycled plastics in sportswear by announcing this week (July 16th 2018) that it is committed to using only recycled plastics in its apparel by 2024, undercutting many other major brand pledges, which aim to achieve plastics sustainability targets by 2025.
Adidas pledges to eliminate the use of virgin polyester and will stop using virgin plastics in its retail outlets, distribution centres and warehouses – a target that will save some 40 tonnes of plastic annually from this year.
In 2019, adidas says its spring/summer line will contain some 41 per cent recycled polyester, while it is ramping production of its Parley ocean plastics shoes, anticipating demand to jump to five million pairs in 2018 compared to one million in 2017.
