"Freeformer Day" in Greve: Steffen Eppler (front left), Managing Director of Arburg Denmark, is delighted with the keen interest shown in the Freeformer for industrial additive manufacturing.
The event, which took place on September 10th 2015, was the largest the subsidiary has ever hosted.
In addition to a specialist presentation on Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF), visitors also expressed a great deal of interest in topics such as Industry 4.0 and the ALS Arburg host computer system, both of which play a key role when it comes to the individualisation of mass-produced parts with the Freeformer.
Steffen Eppler, Managing Director of Arburg Denmark, remarked: "Our Freeformer Day attracted not only long-standing customers, but also many new companies who were particularly interested in additive manufacturing. Most of these have already gained some experience in this area and are interested in using the Freeformer for very specific tasks
In his presentation on industrial additive manufacturing, Dr. Didier von Zeppelin, Head of Additive Manufacturing for Western Europe, introduced Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) and offered a status report on the qualification of standard materials, currently a key issue for the Freeformer team.
In the afternoon, the Arburg experts used the practical example of office scissors to demonstrate how injection moulding and freeforming can be combined using Industry 4.0 and the Arburg host computer system (ALS). This enables mass-produced products to be individualised so that each part can be seamlessly traced.
Anyone who missed the "Freeformer Day" can find out about the system on November 11th, when Arburg Plastic Freeforming will be presented at the "Conference Additive Manufacturing" organised by the Danish Plastics Association in Copenhagen.
From October 13th-18th 2015, three Freeformers will also be exhibited on the Arburg Stand 3101, Hall A3 at the German Fakuma trade fair in Friedrichshafen. One highlight will be a fully automated system to demonstrate the "office scissors" example application presented in Greve. This application is the first time ever that a Freeformer has been automated with a mobile robot that inserts the scissors in an interactive operation and then passes them to the visitor after individualisation is complete.
In addition, Arburg will also be represented with two Freefomers at the formnext in Frankfurt from November 24th-27th 2015 (Hall 3.1, Stand E 30).
