Huntsman Corporation's Thermoplastic Polyurethanes (TPU) division will be highlighting its latest technologies for the plastics market at NPE2015.
At Booth S15073, Huntsman will showcase the TPU options available to decision makers in footwear, wire and cable, non-optical aliphatic film and food contact markets.
Paola Palma Faoro, Americas Marketing Manager for TPU at Huntsman, said: "Huntsman has more than 40 years' experience in the development of TPUs for plastic processing applications. At this year's NPE, we'll demonstrate how our TPUs can help transform the manufacturing, durability and comfort of footwear; keep people connected in the digital world; improve the longevity of consumer and industrial products; and contribute to more efficient farming and food processing techniques."
What will Huntsman be bringing to NPE?
- AVALON TPU for the footwear sector: Huntsman’s AVALON TPU was one of the first polyurethane materials developed for the footwear industry back in the 1970s. Today the company continues to be a pioneer – expanding its extensive line of lightweight TPUs to meet the sustainability objectives of footwear manufacturers worldwide, while raising the bar in terms of material performance and wearer comfort.
- IROGRAN TPU for wire and cable manufacture: Huntsman has a broad portfolio of TPUs that can be used to create wire jackets or cable accessories. Marketed under the IROGRAN brand, the range includes a variety of halogen-free, flame retardant grades that are easy to process and provide a matte finish.
- KRYSTALGRAN TPU for film and sheet production: Extruded to create highly durable, protective films and barrier layers for light stable applications, Huntsman's KRYSTALGRAN TPUs can help safeguard tablets and smartphones screens and protect automotive bodies from chips and scratches. They are also used in construction, flooring, footwear, graphics and textile applications.
- IROGRAN TPU for food contact materials (FCM) – Huntsman's high quality IROGRAN TPU FCM grades are produced under good manufacturing practice (GMP) conditions. They are used in harvesting and picking equipment, processing and dispensing machinery, conveyor belts and many other food and drink-related processes.
Palma Faoro noted: "If you are involved in the plastics industry in the US, NPE is the place to be seen. We're excited to be taking our TPU portfolio back to the show and are encouraging attendees to visit our booth to discuss their design and manufacturing challenges and discover what it is possible to achieve with TPU."
Tough and reliable, yet incredibly versatile, TPUs can be customised to meet the requirements of designers and product engineers developing everyday goods as well as more specialist industrial items. From shoes and seals to cables and conveyor belts, the design possibilities are endless with TPUs, which can be extruded, injection moulded, converted into films or sheets and transformed into adhesive systems.
