After the success of the two first editions, JEC World is organising the third edition of its Startup Booster, the leading start-up competition in composites, where ten start-ups will present their innovations to a jury of industry experts.

JEC World 2019 reveals 10 most promising composites industry start-ups
JEC Group launched the Startup Booster programme in 2017 to get closer to the start-up world, to attract the next generation of composites entrepreneurs, and to put them at the forefront of the industry.
The members of the 2029 jury are:
- Jelle Bloemhof, Head of Manufacturing Technologies of Composite, Airbus;
- Karl-Heinz Fueller, Responsible for material innovations and BIW concept
- development, Daimler AG;
- Jeffrey Wollschlager, Senior Director - Composites Technology, Altair Engineering;
- Renaud Poulard, Partner, Omnes Capital; and
- Raphael Surun, Head of Composites Department, Beneteau Group.
Bloemhof said: “As a main Innovation Partner of the Startup Booster competition we get fantastic direct engagement with the innovators who are defining solutions for the future.”
With Fueller adding: “Daimler being one of the main Innovation Partners of the Startup Booster, we are looking for innovations, particularly in sustainable technologies and processes.”
Compose yourself
The programme showcases 10 shortlisted start-ups, each having five minutes to present their innovations at JEC World 2019 on March 12 2019 on the Agora Stage (Hall 5) of the Paris-Nord Villepinte.
The 10 shortlisted start-ups are:
- Biprocel (Spain): A new generation of regenerated, high-end and plant- based materials;
- Lingrove (US): Materials and design firm focused on plant-based fibres and resins;
- UBQ Materials (Israel): Reducing your Carbon Footprint, empowering your pledge to the Environment and Future Generations;
- AirGo (Singapore): World's first full composite economy class passenger seat developer;
- AEON-T (Spain): Enabling mass production of composite parts;
- Arevo (USA): Delivering the future of composite manufacturing today through breakthrough advancements in software, materials, and robotics;
- Lavoisier Composites (France): New generation of material entirely sourced from the French aerospace transformation sector;
- Mantis Composites (US): Bringing the advantages of carbon fibre composites to intricate parts currently only possible with machined metals;
- cellEQ (Germany): Developing, producing and distributing individual measuring equipment for the shrinkage analysis of multi-component resin systems; and
- Woodoo (France): Augmented Wood.
These 10 start-ups will also be presenting within the Startup Booster Village, during the event and will benefit from a dedicated programme of workshops with innovation partners Airbus, Daimler, and Altair.
