The Society of Plastics Engineers, SPE, has announced Patrick Farrey will be appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer in June, taking over from Wim De Jos, who will be stepping down after over 5 years of leadership to return to the industry.
Chicago based Farrey joins SPE after a 23-year career in the publication and management sector, primarily as Vice-President at Kellen, a US association management firm.
Former colleague and former SPE President Scott Owens said: “With over 15 years of managing societies and associations, Farrey brings a great deal of non-profit experience.”
Owens stood down at SPE’s flagship event ANTEC. His successor, Dr Raed al Zubi said “Now is the time to time to build on a solid new foundation, which an association executive has the best expertise.”
He continued: “SPE is in a very good position with a growing total membership with more young professionals, the newest digital resources, and several solid strategic partnerships.”
Al Zubi, who took over as International President of SPE on 7th May, concluded: “Farrey has a very good basis to start from and can strengthen SPE’s position as a leading provider of new technology information and knowledge to the world-wide plastics industry.”
SPE is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary at the ANTEC plastics technology conference which takes place from 8th to 10th May in Anaheim.
