Global 100 is an index initiated and regularly updated by the Canadian firm Corporate Knights Inc. It evaluates major companies from all sectors by examining sustainability performances from a number of perspectives and selecting the 100 best. The 2020 Global 100 were announced at the annual World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.
SEKISUI was awarded for its performance in several evaluation criteria, including clean revenue, resource and clean air productivity, innovation capacity, safety and employee retention. Ranked 12th in the world, SEKISUI secured the highest ranking among all Asian companies assessed.
Sustainability in strategy
Social and environmental responsibilities have always been intrinsically anchored in the company’s values.
Chairman Teiji Koge said: “By applying ESG management, we would like to realise a future where society becomes more sustainable as our business grows. The capability to create products and services that can contribute to solving social problems is at the centre of ESG management, and the future of SEKISUI depends upon it.”
As a Japanese company with a strong heritage, SEKISUI has prioritised the importance of responsible behaviour and the principle of giving back to the earth as much as it takes. With this principle in mind, SEKISUI has developed its own 'Sustainable Index' to measure its corporate behaviour. The fact that the company and its products have achieved a significant positive impact of 92.8% on the natural asset balance demonstrates a responsible use of resources.
SEKISUI will continue working on improving environmental protection and the lives of people around the world – to contribute to a sustainable society going forward.
