Bobst has acknowledged strong technical and sales outcomes from a conference and workshop series at its learning centre in Florence, Italy, last November.
The REVO Digital Flexo Revolution is a printing technology network headed by Bobst. Other firms involved are Americk Packaging, Apex International, AVT, DuPont, Esko, Flint Group, X-Rite Pantone and UPM Raflatac.
The conference, at the Competence Centre of Bobst Florence, November 29th – December 1st 2016, hosted 322 participants, providing great networking opportunities for the printing technology sector.
The REVO technology process flows from prepress through to print production; and the highlights of the demonstrations shown on two BOBST inline flexo presses demonstrates the reliability of the REVO Digital Flexo workflow: the process prints of four different jobs on film and carton substrates using 16 Pantone colours, without ever changing the ink in the print units or the anilox rollers.

The REVO process changes jobs automatically in one minute, with the new job in register after less than 20 metres of waste.
In each of the four jobs all the Pantone colours showed a Delta-E colour accuracy of less than 2, allowing for the different physical properties and level of absorption of the 38 micron unsupported polypropylene and the 240gsm light board substrates used in the demo runs.
Attendees also visited the REVO Academy, experiencing the fully operational REVO plate manufacturing process using Esko prepress and proofing solutions, the Esko CDI Spark 4835 Flexo Plate Imaging device plus UV Exposure and Fast Plate processing provided by DuPont.
The students from packaging converters could arrive at Bobst Florence with a new file, and in less than two hours print the new job on the press, including plate making, plate mounting and press set-up. The REVO partners have announced that converters worldwide can use the REVO Academy for tests and for full “turn-key” REVO training.
