Interplas
Sumitomo Demag is celebrating a hat-trick of achievements at Interplas 2014 this autumn, the UK's leading plastic industry event.
Held at the NEC, Birmingham, from September 30th to October 2nd, Sumitomo Demag will be right in the heart of the action on Stand D30, where the team will be celebrating the company's illustrious 40th anniversary.
Moreover, in a UK debut, two fully operational 100-tonne injection moulding cells will be on show, one focusing on plastic precision moulding and the other on packaging components.
The former is the fully-electric IntElect 100 machine (clamping force 1,000 kN), which will enable visitors to experience the benefits of Sumitomo's activeFlowBalance technology first-hand. Suited to high-repeatability, mass-produced precision automotive and medical applications, the Sumitomo Demag on-site team is set to use a 32-fold rawl plug mould to demonstrate the immediate impact of activeFlowBalance and how it combats uneven and fluctuating filling of multi-cavity moulds.
The demonstration will allow the team to showcase noticeable quality improvements and boast how activeFlowBalance addresses challenges such as jetting, sink marks, flash, voids, short shots and warping without increasing cycle time.
Managing Director Nigel Flowers explained: "In just one cycle time, there's a visible difference. This is a rare opportunity for manufacturers to get a glimpse of what goes on inside the mould cavity and the ease in which activeFlowBalance can be deployed into existing injection moulding equipment."
Pushing the productivity boundaries further still, bottle cap manufacturers will be excited to learn how Sumitomo's newest clamp unit innovation has reduced production cycle time by a further 0.2 seconds.
Interplas visitors will have to be patient until the day the event opens to explore how Sumitomo engineers have mastered the heat and lubrication battle without compromising on reliability and affecting machine wear and tear.
Visit the Sumitomo (SHI) Demag stand D30 to see how they have reduced cap and closure cycle times from 2.6 to 2.4 seconds. And listen out too for the popping of corks on September 30th when the team will be celebrating 40 years to the day when Sumitomo (SHI) Demag launched. Nigel and the team are inviting everyone to share in the company's success and toast to the future.
