Which?, the British products and services reviewer, has put installing uPVC windows top of a list of the most popular home improvements householders are making.

uPVC windows
While installing a new boiler was the most common investment homeowners have made to add value to their property, with 34 per cent splashing out on a new unit in the past five years, putting in modern double glazing was something more than a quarter (26 per cent) of respondents have arranged - joint second with giving the garden a makeover.
Modern uPVC window systems are resistant to their environment and are resistant to pollution and sea water, and do not rot, while the window and door systems are known to be secure and strong. But their benefits really stand out in terms of insulation.
A Which? survey from August 2016 of 2,239 people revealed that 44 per cent of respondents found their new uPVC windows helped them keep their homes warm in winter and contributed to a 40 per cent drop in energy bills.
A-grade u-PVC double glazing is manufactured using PVC window profiles framing two panes of glass separated by a layer of gas. This keeps warm air in, resulting in fewer draughts, keeps outside noises out, and reduces condensation.
