KraussMaffei names new machines division Head
Dr Volker Nilles
Trained as a mechanical engineer, Nilles joined KraussMaffei at the beginning of 2020, taking charge of the injection moulding division, which, along with the reaction process machinery division, will be integrated into the new machines division. Over the coming year, KraussMaffei will also manage its extrusion technology under the responsibility of this new division.
Nilles began his career at the Technical University of Munich, where he worked first as a research assistant and later as Head of Innovation Management and Plant Development. He also held positions at ThyssenKrupp Metal Cutting (Ludwigsburg), Bosch Rexroth, and Kleemann, where he was CEO for nine years.
KraussMaffei CEO Dr Michael Ruf said: "I am very pleased that in Volker Nilles we have been able to win over an expert who is as accomplished as he is experienced in the field of new machines. By pooling our strengths in the new division, we intend to further strengthen KraussMaffei's position as the world's leading manufacturer of machinery and systems for producing and processing plastics and rubber. We will continue to focus on the specifics of the individual product and project families.”
Nilles added: "In my first seven months at KraussMaffei, I have gotten to know a very open and motivated team with a high level of expertise and a great deal of knowledge about products, applications, technology and the markets … I am looking forward to this great task and I am sure that we will master the challenges ahead by joining all our forces."
