Calcium carbonate specialist Omya will display its full portfolio for the plastics sector at K 2013. In particular the group plans to focus on the packaging market for the exhibition.
The group will present its expanded portfolio of the Omyacarb and Omyafilm ranges for new applications, including film extrusion, caps and closures, sheet extrusion and extrusion coating.
In recent years, Omya has acquired distribution companies to boost its reach, including Lipscomb and Durr Marketing/Azalea in the Americas and United Chemicals in the Asia Pacific area.
The group places emphasis on the evinronment, stating that its calcium carbonate, when added to plastic products, reduces the overall negative impact upon the plastic application, which has led to a strong development in environmentally friendly applications.
Other new products since the last K include ‘Direct Addition’ technology and more products under the Hydrocarb range for vinyl extrusion in the building and construction markets. These products reportedly allow processors to increase calcium carbonate usage without compromising on mechanical properties.
