PacTec, FoodTec and PlastExpo Nordic to focus on sustainability
Helsinki, Finland
There will be a particular focus on sustainable manufacturing methods and materials, as well as future employers. The PacTec, FoodTec and PlastExpo Nordic events will be held at Messukeskus Helsinki from 11-12 March 2020.
The packaging, food and drink, and plastics industries are undergoing a shift as technologies develop and consumers’ values and needs change. Sustainability Strategy and Communications Manager at DS Smith, Sam Jones, will join SOK CEO Taavi Heikkilä in discussing sustainability from the packaging and retail industry perspectives. CCO at Orkla Nina Olin and Packdesign ID CEO Maija Olkkonen-Seppo will discuss sustainability and consumer expectations respectively.
Sustainable future for materials
The Sustainability contest, to be held as part of the event package, will culminate on the PlastExpo stage on 12 March at noon, as the companies or organisations selected for the final present their sustainable product, solution or manufacturing method for the packaging, food and drink, and plastics industries.
Each will get a chance to present their product, after which the jury will select the winner, who will be awarded a €3,000 prize from the Finnish Fair Foundation. The competition will be open on the website for the event package until 16 February 2020.
All participating companies will pitch the mission of their business, their learning and development opportunities, and their goals for the mitigation of climate change and the use of renewable resources. The companies participating in the event will be announced on the event website beforehand.
