Excell-R
Example of Excell-R® insulation panels.
Total has added a new flame retardant grade to its range of expandable polystyrenes, on the back of the success of Excell-R in the insulation market.
The international chemicals giant has introduced XLR 4559 SE with an average diameter of 1.2 mm to the range, allowing Total to reinforce its presence on the insulation market and confirm its commitment to the optimisation of energy resources and reducing CO2 emissions.
Tanguy Kervyn, Vice-President of the Specialty Polymers Division, said: "Excell-R is the culmination of recent developments in microgranulation, combined with the controlled bulk polymerisation process, which Total is using since many years at its 13 polystyrene production units around the world. We also use cutting-edge flame retardant additive technology."
Excell-R products provide excellent sphericity, by means of an innovative manufacturing process. Their transformation behaviour and thermal performance are known to be better than conventional EPS, so that the panel thickness can be reduced when using equivalent insulation.
