With under a year to go until the 15th edition of the Middle East’s premier international trade show for plastics, petrochemicals, packaging and runner industries – which EPPM and MEP will be operating alongside as official media partners – some of the region’s household names and companies are beginning to get excited.

Approaching its 30th anniversary, the Dubai-based event will once again welcome exhibitors from all over the world to the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC), one of the largest event venues in the region (at over 110,000 square metres) and strategically located in the heart of Dubai’s lucrative business district.
Among the industry giants exhibiting in 2021 will be petrochemical producer Tasnee, which – as part of its efforts to raise its productivity of the acrylic acid plant – signed a Butanol supply contract with SABIC in February. Signed by Tasnee’s Eng. Fahad Al-Subaie, and SABIC’s Eng. Abdullah Al-Arefi, this contract will enable TASNEE to acquire additional quantities of Butanol.
This co-operation comes in co-ordination with the requirements of the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the national economy, increase production and add to the national manufacturing sector.
TASNEE produces an annual production capacity of 160,000 tonnes of acrylic acid and Butyl Acrylate for industrial applications such as paints, cosmetics, adhesives, paper, fabric, leather, and carpets.
TASNEE is considered one of the largest Saudi petrochemical companies, and one of the first private companies to invest in the field, establishing the TASNEE Petrochemical Complex in Jubail, which includes the factories of the Saudi Polyolefins Company, Saudi Ethylene & Polyethylene Company and the factories of the Saudi Acrylic Acid Company.
NATPET, the National Petrochemical Company, also of Saudi Arabia, will also be returning to ArabPlast. Last year, NATPET announced its own signing of a contract with a subsidiary of Italy-based engineering company Maire Tecnimont SpA to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services (EPC) to restore the damaged units in its polypropylene plant as results of fire damage.
The contract included determining the responsibility of Tecnimont Arabia Co. for designing, engineering, procurement services, material supply, construction supervision and plant start-up, which was achieved in October 2019 in line with the schedule and company plan.
Abu Dhabi-based additives supplier Adeka Al Otaiba Middle East LLC (AOME), with headquarters in the capital’s Musaffah Business District, will once again bring its innovative additives, plasticisers and stabilisers solutions to ArabPlast.
EPPM and MEP are looking forward to learning about the contributions these and other businesses in the region are making to the industry, to sustainability and the circular economy, and to ArabPlast itself in the coming months.
